Cell killing mediated by cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (Tc)

Activated Tc-cells release perforin, which directly damages the target cell membrane, and granzymes capable of activating caspases directly. Activated Tc-cells also utilize the tnf/TNF-R and FasL/Fas systems, which are capable of activating caspases directly; see intracellular pathways.
